EXTREME SPORTS PARK: Sprint boat action returns this weekend

PORT ANGELES — Sprint boat action is returning to the Extreme Sports Park this weekend with the 2025 with the loud and fast boats, personal watercraft teams, skydivers and lots of food vendors Saturday and Sunday.

Kellie Morrison said this year there will be several boats from New Zealand joining the local and Pacific Northwest racers.

Camping at the Extreme Sports Park will open at noon today for $35 a night. The event will have a kickoff event at 4 p.m. Friday with the sprint boats on display with their drivers and navigators at the Elwha Food & Fuel at U.S. Highway 101 and South Dry Creek Road. This event is free.

Last year, the event was expanded to two days because of the increase in the number of boats. There will be three classifications — Modified, 400 and unlimited. Preliminaries will be held Saturday.

Gates open at 8:30 a.m. and racing begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with a halftime. Gates are open Sunday morning. Tickets are $40 per day and $60 for a two-day pass for adults, $20 for kids 6-12 and $30 for kids for a two-day pass. Military members get in for $35 a day and $50 for a two-day ticket. Kids under 5 get in for free.

Saturday morning begins with sky jumpers. The West Coast Surf Riders and PNW Water X personal watercraft stunt teams will perform during halftimes.

There will be a beer garden and lots of food vendors.

The races will be streamed at https://www.youtube.com/@ASBR-PRO-RACING-SERIES and https://www.facebook.com/AmericanSprintBoatRacing.

This is the second American Sprint Boat Racing event of the summer. The first was held June 7 and 8 in Lewiston, Idaho with the winners River Rogers and Cole Keatts (Lewiston) in Pure Insanity 285 in the Unlimited class, Eric Werner and Jen Farmer (Arlington, Wash.) in the Jolly Rogers 180 in the 400 and Frank and Kelly Toftemark (Castle Rock) in Check Mate 55 in the modified.

The ASBR races return to Extreme Sports Park on Sept. 6-7.
