COLLEGE SOCCER: Peninsula men earn semifinal win, will play for repeat crown

Seventh NWAC title on the line Sunday

TUKWILA — Peninsula College earned the chance to play for a repeat NWAC Men’s Soccer Championship by outlasting Walla Walla 1-0 in a physical semifinal contest Friday evening at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila.

The Pirates (13-1-2) will face West No. 2 Clark (15-1-2) in Sunday’s final at 4:30 p.m. with Peninsula’s seventh NWAC title on the line.

The Pirates have won every NWAC Championship contest they have made since first lifting the title in 2010.

The contest is available to stream for a fee at www.nwacsportsnetwork.com.

Friday against the Warriors, Ezrah Ochoa’s unassisted goal in the 38th minute stood up for the Pirates despite a furious fight.

The two teams combined for 29 fouls (16 Peninsula, 13 Walla Walla) and seven yellow cards, all seven coming in the game’s final 20 minutes.

Peninsula goalkeeper Laurin Lettow made six saves in goal to secure the shutout.
