COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Peninsula women lose opener at Pierce tourney

STEILACOOM — The Peninsula women got blitzed by a big Clackamas third quarter, getting outscored 23-14 in the period en reoute to a 63-51 loss at the Pierce Holiday Invitational.

Anaya Rodisha had a good game in the Friday night loss, shooting 9-for-17 from the floor and scoring 24 points. However, the rest of team shot just 24 percent from the floor.

Alicia Dugan, coming off a seven-steal performance Wednesday night, had seven rebounds and seven assists against Clackamas.

Tiffani Smith scored nine points and pulled down eight rebounds, while Yamelei Rodriguez had eight rebounds.

The Pirates were down just 26-22 at the half, but found themselves behind 49-36 after the third quarter.

Peninsula (3-4) played Pierce Saturday afternoon. If they win that game, the Pirates have another game this morning.
