Local 155 heads to Cal Ripken title game

PORT ANGELES — Local 155 beat Elks 6-3 with some clutch hitting late in the game to clinch the American League title in Cal Ripken Majors action.

The game was close until the sixth inning tied at 3-3 when Local 155 took the lead in the top of the inning thanks to an Elijah Flodstrom double that drove in two runs.

Local 155 picked up 15 hits in the game. Blake Merideth and Thor Olsen each had three hits, while Flodstrom and Miles Bowechop had two hits each. Flodstrom led the team with three RBIs. Merideth and Bowechop each had RBIs. Luke Flodstrom had a hit and an RBI. Alex Angevine also had a triple and scored a run.

For Elks, Kaleb Mullen, Kolten Corey and Joseph Ritchie all had two hits. Ritchie had a triple and three RBIs while Mullen scored two runs. Elks didn’t commit a single error in the game.

Conner Ferro-May and Merideth each pitched three innings for Local 155. Ferro-May gave up three hits and one earned run, while Merideth gave up four hits and two earned runs, while striking out six.

Corey went the distance for Elks, giving up six earned runs while striking out four.

Lions and Local 155 will play in the Port Angeles city championship at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lincoln Park.
