BOYS SWIMMING: Port Angeles relay team swims to win

Peninsula Daily News

KINGSTON — The Port Angeles boys swim team’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Cameron Butler, Karesten Hertog, Alex Hertzog and Tristin Butler won its race against Kingston.

The relay victory was the Roughriders’ only win at Thursday’s meet. However, the Roughriders had several other strong finishes and district and state qualifying swims.

Tristin Butler placed second in the 500-yard freestyle versus Kingston with a time of 5 minutes, 3.81 seconds, setting a state-qualifying time.

The Roughriders added five additional individual district times. Cameron Butler finished second in the individual medley with a time of 2:11.58 and second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.65).

Milo Atwater finished third in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.38, while Noah Sinnes was fourth in the 500 freestyle (6:05.32) and Atwater was fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.98.

All of those times were good enough to qualify for districts.

Kingston outpointed Port Angeles 113-58 in the Olympic League meet.

The boys also swam at the Falcon Relays at Foss on Saturday. Results were not available at press time.
