OCALA, Fla. — After giving up six runs in the first inning to Mid-County, Texas, in game two of the Babe Ruth Senior World Series, Wilder Senior rallied with three runs in the second inning, but they couldn’t stop the bleeding as the Nederland, Texas-based team went on to win 15-3.
Wilder Senior pitchers gave up 14 hits and the defense uncharacteristically made five errors, allowing four unearned runs.
The seniors are 1-1 after two games in the world series in Ocala, Fla., just outside of Orlando. They played late Tuesday against a team from Fort Caroline, Fla., after press deadline.

Wilder Senior won its first game Saturday 16-1 over Australia as Jordan Shumway hit a double and a home run and drove in four runs in that game.
Mid County pounded out four hits and Wilder Senior made three errors in that rough first inning as starter Alex Angevine just couldn’t get out of the inning.
The seniors didn’t quit, mounting a rally in the second to get right back in the game. Kody Williams came in to pitch the second and shut the door on Mid County briefly, thanks to a double play on a pop-up to center fielder Shumway, who then threw to first baseman Ezra Townsend to double up a baserunner who had gone too far off the bag.
In the bottom of the second, Brayden White started off with a solid double. Lincoln Bear followed with a single and moved to second on an overthrow as White was held at third.
Shumway hit a slow grounder to the pitcher and White was able to avoid the tag coming down the third base line. After a long conference, the umpires ruled that White didn’t go out of the base line and the run scored.
Ian Smithson followed with an RBI single, scoring Bear as Shumway went to third. Shumway came in to score on a wild pitch, just getting in under the tag of the pitcher.
Wilder Senior’s momentum was short-lived as Mid-County responded with two runs in the third and five more in the fourth to pull away. Daigan Venable and Austin Cadrey did most of the damage. Venable hit a home run, drove in two and scored three runs, while Cadrey hit three double, and likewise scored three runs and drove in two.
For Wilder Senior, Rylan Politika finished 2-for-2.
The good news for Wilder Senior is the team is tied for second place in its pool. Mid-County leads Pool A with a 2-0 record and four teams are tied with 1-1 records.
