ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Teagan Clark, Port Angeles softball

The Port Angeles softball team came into Friday’s game needing to win to ensure the Roughriders’ sixth Olympic League championship since 2015.

The Sequim Wolves scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, then Riders’ pitcher Teagan Clark slammed the door, only allowing the Wolves a couple more hits the rest of the game and shutting them out the rest of the way in a 5-1 win.

Clark has been a big part of the 17-2 Riders’ success this season, not only leading them to another league championship by shouldering most of the pitching duties, but a No. 3 ranking in the state in Ratings Percentage Index.

Largely because of Clark’s pitching, the Riders have only allowed 66 runs in 19 games this year.

Clark will continue to be the lead pitcher for the Riders as Port Angeles heads into the postseason, looking for their first opportunity to play in the state tournament since 2019.
