ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Taylee Rome, Sequim softball

Sequim junior Taylee Rome’s bat has been heating up for the Wolves softball team that has won four of its last six games after starting the season 0-3.

Rome had a huge game on April 11 in a 15-5 win over Kingston, going 4-for-5 at the plate with three doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. She also added a walk.

On April 13 against Olympic, she continued with her hot bat, going 2-for-3 with a double. Over the past two games, she is batting .750 with four doubles.

Rome and her Wolves teammates have a huge test at home this afternoon, taking on their undefeated and No. 5-ranked rivals from Port Angeles as the two teams battle to remain near the top of the Olympic League standings.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
