ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Seren Dances, Port Townsend track and field

Port Townsend’s Seren Dances has had a busy start to his track season.

In a meet on March 23 agains Klahowya and North Kitsap, Dances won the 100-meter hurdles, the 200-meter run and the long jump. Two days later at the Lewis County Invitational with 14 schools, he won the 300-meter hurdles and was part of the first-place 4-by-100 relay team. He also finished second in the 100-meter run.

That’s five first-place finishes and a second-place in just two meets.

For his accomplishments, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association selected Dances as one of its athletes of the week last week.

The Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’sGeneral Store, serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
