ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Noa Montoya, Port Townsend Redhawks quarterback

Port Townsend quarterback Noa Montoya had a game for the Redhawks against Concrete he’ll never forget Friday night.

Montoya led the Redhawks from behind to pull off a miraculous 36-34 win over the Lions.

First, as Port Townsend was trailing in the final minute down 34-28. He hit Dylan Tracer with three straight passes to lead the Redhawks down the field into scoring position. Then with 34 seconds remaining, he picked up a bad snap, avoided getting sacked and hit Tracer again for the game-tying touchdown.

On the two-point conversion attempt, Montoya recovered up a Tracer fumble in the end zone to give the Redhawks the lead.

When Concrete got the ball back, Montoya went back as a defensive back on defense and intercepted a Lions’ pass on a trick play to finally seal the victory for the Redhawks. What a sequence for the Port Townsend senior, who has also come back from an ankle injury this season.
