ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Natalie Robinson, Port Angeles softball

Natalie Robinson just wrapped up an amazing softball career for the Port Angeles Roughriders.

She was just named the Olympic League most valuable player after being named the Olympic Peninsula MVP last year. She also set the all-time career home run record for Port Angeles High School with 36, breaking the record previously held by Natalie Steinman.

This season, she hit .483 with 12 HRs, 5 triples and 12 doubles among her 43 hits. Her slugging percentage was an amazing 1.135 (By comparison, in Babe Ruth’s best season, he had a slugging percentage of .847) and her on-base plus slugging was 1.683. She drove in 43 runs and even stole seven bases, all while playing outstanding shortstop for the Riders, making just four errors all season. She helped lead Port Angeles to an Olympic League title and a fourth-place finish at the state 2A tournament.

While Robinson’s career with the Riders is over, she is just getting started on her softball career as she will play next year for Columbia Basin College in Pasco.
