ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Lilly Anne Lancaster, Port Angeles girls soccer

Port Angeles’ Lilly Anne Lancaster is getting hot for the Roughriders at the right time of year.

Lancaster scored a hat trick in just five minutes of play against Washington in the Riders’ 9-0 win over the Patriots in the first round of the District 3 tournament playoffs, giving the Riders a 3-0 lead just 10 minutes into the game.

Lancaster also scored two goals in a victory Oct. 28 against Kingston, another goal Oct. 23 against Bremerton and two more in a victory over Sequim on Oct. 21 for eight goals in her past four matches.

Lancaster and her Roughriders teammates have a big game tonight at rival North Kitsap to move into the District 3 semifinals. The Riders split two regular season games this season against the Vikings.

Win or lose, Port Angeles plays again Thursday.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
