ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Kason Albaugh, Port Angeles football

What a season debut for the Port Angeles Roughriders football team and Kason Albaugh.

Albaugh had a fumble early in the game against the Blaine Borderites, but bounced back in a huge way the rest of the game. He rushed for 139 yards on 20 carries and had three touchdown runs on rushes of three, four and 10 yards.

To top it off, he also had a 44-yard pass reception to set up a touchdown two plays later, finishing with 183 yards of offense from scrimmage. Albaugh’s game, along with Blake Sohlberg’s three interceptions and 45-yard touchdown catch, was a big part of the Riders’ 44-21 victory on the road against Blaine.

Albaugh and his Riders teammates have a big challenge coming up with a road game against No. 5-ranked Anacortes this weekend.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
