Jude Wallace played a big role in Port Angeles’ 26-7 victory over Forks at Civic Field on Friday.
Wallace, who didn’t get to play a lot last year due to injury, had a 7-yard touchdown catch and, after Forks scored to make the score 14-7, he responded with a 58-yard catch and run on a pass from Carson Waddell. In all, Wallace finished with three catches for 68 yards while also rushing six times for 27 yards.
On defense, Wallace came up with a key interception late in the first half that helped set up Port Angeles’ first touchdown drive.
Wallace later added a nice punt return in the second half to help set up another touchdown drive.
The victory snapped an 11-game losing streak for the Riders. Wallace and his Port Angeles teammates have a tough task this week, going on the road to play a 2-0 North Mason team.
Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
