ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jade Blair, Forks soccer

Jade Blair had an amazing week for the resurgent Forks girls soccer team at the beginning of October.

Forks was in danger of possibly having to cancel its season because no coach could be found, and basketball coach Keith Weekes stepped in to coach the girls. They have responded by going 4-4-0 on the season.

Blair, who is also known for her wrestling prowess for the Spartans, has been a big part of the team’s success. She scored an incredible 10 goals in a 12-4 win over Winlock on Oct. 1.

Her outburst wasn’t a fluke as she followed up with a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Ilwaco on Oct. 6, scoring 13 goals in just five days.

Blair and her Spartan teammates played Onalaska Monday and next host South Bend on Wednesday.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swain’s General Store in Port Angeles.
