ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Crescent’s Wyatt McNeese

Wyatt McNeese

Crescent’s Wyatt McNeese had a great meet at the State 1B Track and Field championships held late last month at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.

First, McNeese came in fourth early in the meet in the discus with a throw of 121 feet, 7 inches.

He could have gone home happy with that high finish, but more was to come. In the final day of the meet Saturday, McNeese came in second in the shot put with a put of 43-0 1/2. McNeese saved his best for last. He barely qualified for state in the shot put, but once he was in the finals, his shot put was a personal record.

Thanks largely to McNeese’s efforts in the field, the Crescent boys came in 14th in the state out of 33 schools.
