ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Bailee Larson, Port Angeles girls basketball

Bailee Larson has been on fire lately for the Port Angeles Roughriders girls basketball team.

Larson, who takes care of much of the Riders’ ball-handling and has been called “the best passer in the league” by her coach Michael Poindexter, has also been contributing with double-digit scoring of late.

Against Bainbridge, Larson led the Riders with 19 points to go along with her five assists. Against Olympic 2A League rival North Kitsap on Thursday, she scored 10 points and had six assists and six steals. Finally, against North Mason on Saturday, she contributed 16 points and eight assists. That’s an average of 15 points and 6.3 assists over her past three games.

All three of those games were wins for Port Angeles, which will face the Sequim girls — undefeated in league — Thursday in a huge game for first place.

Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Swains General Store in Port Angeles.
