ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Adam Borde, Port Angeles wrestling

Adam Borde has been an absolute force for the Port Angeles wrestling squad so far this season.

Borde was one of three Roughrider wrestlers who went 5-0 at the Battle of the Axe tournament held in Port Angeles this weekend — the other two were Josh Boe and Leslie Worthey. What makes Borde’s 5-0 day is one of the wrestlers he beat, Jake Weakley of Forks, is one of the top 1A 138-pound wrestlers in the state.

Primarily wrestling at 138 pounds, Borde has gone 18-4 on the season. He won at the Larry Brown Tournament in Fife and went all the way to the championship match at the Hammerhead Invite in Bremerton and the North Mason Invitational.

Borde placed eighth in the state last year among 2A wrestlers at 126 pounds and will be looking to place even higher at this year’s Mat Classic.
