Celebrate 130 years with the Irrigation run

SEQUIM — Runners and walkers will tread the Irrigation Festival Parade route as part of the Sequim Irrigation Festival Run Series set May 10.

In honor of the festival’s 130th year, the first 130 participants to register will receive a finisher’s medal.

The out-and-back race begins at the old J.C. Penney parking lot at 651 W. Washington St., and has distances of 5-kilometers and 1-mile.

Registration fees are $25 for the 5-kilometer run/walk and $22 for the 1-mile through Feb. 28. Fees will increase March 1.

Little League funds

Applications for the T-Mobile Little League Call Up Grant, a program that provides funds for families in need with registration fees, are accepted through Feb. 5.

Due to demand, each day the application will open at 10 a.m. and close when the daily limit of 650 applications has been reached.

Parents/guardians must gather eligibility documentation needed in order to be approved for a grant.

Documents must show the child’s name as well as effective dates within the last 12 months. One of the following documents will be required with the application: SNAP enrollment document with dates, WIC Enrollment document with dates, Medicaid Enrollment document with dates.

If you are attempting to take advantage of early registration windows should ask for the full amount for your league (up to $150) in your application.

If approved in time to take advantage of the early registration fee, any additional funds will be returned to help another family in need.

Soccer training

PORT ANGELES — Practice and conditioning sessions for youth soccer players in grades 8-12 are held at Wally Sigmar Field at Peninsula Colleege from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

The sessions are open to high school and club players.

Current Storm King FC members do not need to register or pay an additional fee.

The cost is $50 and registration is available at www.stormkingsoccer.com.

Host family dinner

SEQUIM — A Host Family Dinner for those interested in learning more about hosting a Port Angeles Lefties baseball player, intern or coach for the summer season will be held Thursday.

The dinner will be held at the Black Bear Diner, 1471 E. Washington St., at 6 p.m.

Coaches clinic

PORT ANGELES — A free baseball coaches clinic led by Derek Jennings of New Level 360 will be hosted by the North Olympic Baseball and Softball Barn, 260 Easy St., on Feb. 22.

Jennings recently coached the South Hill Puyallup squad to the Little League World Series in 2024.

He will offer techniques and strategies to get the most out of youth players.
