AREA SPORTS: Flodstrom hits .400, earns All-Lonestar Conference honor

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Angelo State’s Ethan Flodstrom earned a spot on the All-Lone Star Conference Baseball second team as well as the conference’s All-Academic Team.

The Port Angeles High School graduate and former Wilder Baseball Club and Port Angeles Lefties player hit .406 in 45 games, 44 starts, with 6 home runs, 45 RBIs, 14 doubles, 47 walks and just 18 strikeouts in 138 at-bats. Flodstrom also stole bases in 9 of 10 attempts.

Flodstrom also boasts a 1.000 fielding percentage, with 23 putouts.

Angelo State (41-7) won the LSC regular season title and will host the NCAA Division II LSC Tournament this weekend.

Flodstrom is majoring in Management at Angelo State.

He’s the son of Eric and Betsy Flodstrom.

Cedars Ladies play

SEQUIM — Twelve players competed in The Cedars at Dungeness 18-hole Women’s Weekly Golf Group’s monthly medal competition on Tuesday.

Linda Hash took the net honors for the first flight with a round of 70, three strokes ahead of Jane Peoples.

Peoples played her round with a low of 32 putts, besting Marine Hirschfeld and Wanda Synnvestvedt (34).

Hirschfeld earned the closest-to-the-pin honor on hole No. 4, coming within 16 feet, 9.5 inches. Peoples was 14-6 away from the pin on No. 11.

In the second flight, Anne Elwell (70) edged Bobby Piety (73) by three strokes.

Marlene Erickson and Piety tied for fewest putts (35).

Kathy Langston came within 16.5 feet on No. 4 and Erickson was 10-7 from the hole on No. 11.

Birdies were carded by Lisa Chon on No. 3, Jane Peoples on Nos. 2 and 16, Erickson on No. 11.

Piety chipped in on No. 2 and Chon’s chip-in earned her the birdie on No. 3.

Elwell and Linda Hash had the low net scores of 70.

Peoples and Hash had the low gross scores of 84.
