Volleyball camps for grades 7-8, 9-12 set in Sequim

SEQUIM — Registration is underway for a pair of volleyball camps offered by Momentum One Volleyball Academy at the Sequim High School gym Aug. 4-7.

Those who sign up by July 14 will receive a camp T-shirt.

Players entering grades seven and eight will attend from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Players entering grades 9-12 will train from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The cost is $120 per person.

The final registration deadline is Aug. 1.

Summer basketball

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Basketball will host two summer camps, a shooting clinic for players entering grades 4-8 and 9-12 from July 14-16 and a skills camp for boys and girls in grades 3-5 and 6-8 from July 21-24 at Port Angeles High School.

For the shooting clinic, grades 4-8 will attend from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the high-schoolers set for 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $75 for the shooting clinic.

For the basketball camp, incoming students in grades 3-5 will attend from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Students entering sixth through eighth grades will attend from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The cost is $100 for the basketball camp.

All players will receive a camp T-shirt, with games, contests and four days of instruction planned.

BMX open house

PORT ANGELES — A beginners-only BMX open house for ages 3-17 will be hosted by Lincoln Park BMX, 1798 W. Lauridsen Blvd., from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The public is welcome to tour the facility, test out the track and learn more about program offerings such as the upcoming BMX Racing League.

Equipment, including loaner bikes and helmets, will be provided.

Mud drags at fair

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jeff Co 4×4 Club will present mud drags during the Jefferson County Fair on Aug. 10 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, 4907 Landes St.

Gates will open at 8 a.m., and racing will begin at 11 a.m.

The mud drags will have classes for 4- , 6- and 8-cylinder vehicles, plus an open class, kids’ quads and lap sitters.

Entry fees are $30 per class. Kids race for free.

Pit passes are $20.

Admission is included in the price of a ticket to the Jefferson County Fair.

Jump Playground

CHIMACUM — The shade structure is in place, the rubber tiles are the right color and H.J. Carroll County Park’s Jump Playground has reopened to the public.

A JUMP! Grand Re-Opening Celebration is planned for the park, 9884 state Highway 19, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The event will have music, snacks and a giveaway for the first 100 attendees.

Boys & Girls volleyball

SEQUIM — A coed youth volleyball camp for those entering grades three through six will be held at the Boys & Girls Club, 400 W. Fir St., from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The cost is $30, which also covers Boys & Girls Club membership through Dec. 31.

Hoops in PT

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Recreation Department will hold its summer basketball camp from July 7-10.

The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at Port Townsend High School.

The focus will be on improving fundamental skills through drills that improve technique, dribbling, shooting and passing.

The cost is $75 and the camp is limited to 50 players ages 5-14.
