Jiu-Jitsu block party

PORT HADLOCK — North Sound Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu West will hold a Block Party Booster fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the mixed martial arts school, 865 Ness’ Corner Road.

A “Roll-a-Thon” is planned in which students spar each other for one minute while accepting donations. School logo apparel will be offered for sale and donations will be accepted for a hot dog and drink lunch and a car wash.

Attendees also can get their picture taken with “Super Dave,” the school’s official stock-car mascot, a rebuilt 1972 Chevrolet El Camino named after the car’s original owner, David Wright, who died in 2017.

The school also offers scholarships for veterans with PTSD and free self-defense classes for women.
