PORT ANGELES — Windermere and Salazar Painting remained in a tie for first place in the Peninsula Soccer League with wins Sunday at Wally Sigmar Field.
Windermere got a hat trick from Ben Schneider to help beat Pura Vida 6-2, while Pablo Salazar scored four goals in a 6-2 Salazar Painting win over the Bandidos Football Club.
Windermere’s Alex Lopez had a goal and two assists from while Josiah Long scored a goal and Ted Noach scored a goal, with an assist to Gabe Long. Kylee Logsezl also had an assist. Pura Vida’s Eric Cisneros and Pablo Salazar scored goals.
Juan Cisneros scored two goals for Salazar Painting. There were assists Abisai Garcia, Juan Cisneros and Juan Salgado. Bandidos got goals from Chris Lopez and Andrew Rodgers.
Salazar Painting and Windermere have identical 5-0-1 records (16 points).
Strait Slice won its match 3-1 over High Energy. Jay Marazon scored a pair of goals, while Sam Watson tallied a goal with an assist by Quincy Burne.
The Forks Football Club won its match 4-2 over Pantry & Latch to maintain its hold on third place at 4-1-1 (13 points). Forks got two goals from Ismael Ramos. Hugo Sandoval Jr. had a goal and an assist and Cresensio Barragan had an assist. Pantry & Latch got goals from Casy Strawn and Clyde Singleton.
Middle school cross country results
PORT TOWNSEND — Last Wednesday, 28 Port Townsend middle school athletes completed their fifth cross-country event of this season, going up against Sequim and Port Angeles runners.
A total of 64 athletes from the three schools raced in both the boys and girls events in a 2-mile event.
Sequim won the boys event with 27 points. Blue Heron was close behind with 34 points, and Stevens Middle School earned third place with 61 points.
Earning first place in the boys event was Grady White of Port Townsend with a time of 12 minutes, 19 seconds. White won in all five races this season.
Stevens Middle School won the girls event with 22 points. Blue Heron was second with 40 and Sequim third with 71.
The girls winner was Leia Larson of Port Angeles with a time of 13:46. Larson went on to win the women’s 5K race at the Larry Scott Run three days later.
A total of 11 sixth-graders competed for Port Townsend. Silas Kane was the first Port Townsend sixth-grader to cross the line with a time of 13:21.
In the girls category, Isla Emerson was Port Townsend’s top sixth-grader to cross the finish line with a time of 14:46.
The final race of the middle school season will be a 2-mile race Wednesday at Lincoln Park in Port Angeles.
