AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Sequim’s Bear, Rapelje win singles matches against Bainbridge

BAINBRIDGE — Sequim singles players Lincoln Bear and Mason Rapelje won their matches against a powerful Bainbridge Island squad this weekend.

Bainbridge dominated the doubles play and won the meet 5-2.

Bear won his match 7-5, 6-4 over Connor Firth of Bainbridge, while Rapelje beat Nate Bernstein 6-1, 6-1.

The Sequim tennis team played at Port Angeles on Monday.

No. 2: Lincoln Bear (Seq.) def. Connor Firth (BI) 7-5, 6-4.

No. 3: Mason Rapelje (Seq.) def. Nate Bernstein (BI) 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles

No. 1: Lincoln Figgins/Topher Welch (BI) def. Isaac McKeen/Ryan Stites (Seq.) 6-1, 6-1.

No. 2: Sam Steasman/Austin Williams (BI) def. Ian Baylon/Josh Loucks (Seq.) 6-1, 6-2.

No. 3: Milo Quirindongo/Andreas Berteletti (BI) def. Wyatt Perez/Lucas Enges (Seq.) 6-0, 6-0.

No. 4: London Matcho/Emmett Berg (BI) def. Lincoln Forrest/Tegan Kurtz (Seq.) 6-1, 6-0.

Peninsula soccer results

PORT ANGELES — High Energy Metals and Windermere remain tied at the top of the standings of the fall Peninsula Soccer League after victories Sunday at Wally Sigmar Field.

High Energy Metals beat Bandidos FC 5-2 behind two goals from Jake Hughes and goals from Liam Harris, Aldo Garcia and Jake Melly. Julia Banter and Chris Lops scored for Bandidos.

Windermere had an exciting 5-4 win over Meyer Electric with Stuart Methner scoring two goals and Andrew Methner, Joshua Boe and Caim Valles all adding goals. Brandon Wagner and Josiah Long each scored two goals for Meyer Electric.

Forks FC also beat Los Primos 4-1. Edgar Jimenez, Hugo Sandoval Sr., Hugo Sandoval Jr. and Sergio Ordoñez all scored for Forks, while Daniel Torres scored for Los Primos.

Strait Slice beat Pantry & Latch 5-3. Aaron Lee knocked in a pair of goals for Strait Slice, while Jay Marazon, Isaiah Jindrich and Jaime Quickley also scored. For Pantry & Latch, Alex Lopez and Michael Ingraham scored.

Salazar Painting had the highest-scoring match of the day, beating Ediz Hook 9-2. Rafael Flores had a haul, putting in four goals, while Abisai Garcia had a pair of goals. Luis Galvan and Maria Cisneros also scored.

For Ediz Hook, Juan Gonzalez and Oscar Del Rosario scored.

Windermere and High Energy Metals sit atop the standings at 3-0-1. Salazar Painting and Forks FC are right behind at 3-1-0 while Strait Slice remains in the hunt at 2-1-1.

Rainshadow scramble

SEQUIM — The Sequim Football Boosters are holding a nine-hole, two-person scramble golf tournament at The Cedars at Dungeness on Friday before the rivalry game with Port Angeles.

A 3 p.m. shotgun start is planned. Cost is $50 for the public, $25 for members/employees.

The fee includes green fees, cart use, KP prizes and long drive competition.

Port Angeles fans are encouraged to play in the tournament.
