Alumni award to honor Port Angeles grad

LACEY — Port Angeles High School graduate Patrick Crumb will receive one of Saint Martin College’s 2019 Distinguished Alumni Awards during homecoming festivities Saturday.

Crumb is the president of AT&T Sports Networks which includes AT&T SportsNet and ROOT Sports. The networks hold exclusive television rights to over two dozen professional and collegiate teams.

During his tenure the networks have won more than 50 Emmy awards for sports production.

In 2017, two leading national media publications, The Sports Business Journal and Broadcasting & Cable Magazine, both named Crumb as one of the most influential executives in the sports television industry.

Pickleball tourney

PORT ANGELES — A pickleball tournament will be held at Roosevelt Elementary School in Port Angeles from Friday through Sunday. There will be different divisions for players with skill levels ranging from 3.0 through 5.0 in men’s and women’s doubles as well as mixed categories.

The entrance fee is $35 per player, plus $10 if players wish to play in a second category.

Youth hoops

JOYCE — Registration is open for a 3-on-3 youth basketball tournament with age divisions for kids in grades three through five, six through eight and high school players.

The tournament, a benefit for the Crescent High School boys basketball program, has a three-game minimum and will be held at the Crescent School Gymnasium. Third- through eighth grade games will be held March 23, the high school division will play March 24.

Cost is $60 per team and T-shirts will be awarded to the age group champions.
