AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Port Angeles Lefties launch two homers but fall to Corvallis

Wrestling, basketball camps set this summer

PORT ANGELES — Corvallis set down 17 Port Angeles Lefties batters via strikeout in a 7-3 West Coast League win Tuesday.

Lefties starter Corey Sanchez went seven innings, giving up five runs on four hits, with seven strikeouts.

The Knights got to Sanchez in a four-run third inning, capped by Oregon State-commit Braden Boisvert’s two-out, two-run home run.

Port Angeles’ offense came via the longball.

Javi Espinoza hit a first-pitch home run in the bottom of the third and Carson Crawford hit a two-run home run on a full count in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Lefties catcher Jack Holman, a UCLA-commit, threw out three baserunners in the game.

Port Angeles (2-3) played Corvallis late Wednesday and will head to Walla Walla to open a three-game road series with the Sweets on Friday.

Wrestling camp

SEQUIM — Two-time NCAA Champion wrestler Gene Mills will lead a wrestling camp at the Sequim High School wrestling room July 26-29.

Registration is $200 per wrestler, due by June 30. Checks can be sent to Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave., Sequim, WA 98382.

Basketball camp

PORT ANGELES — A summer basketball camp for boys in third through eighth grades will be held at the Port Angeles High School gym from June 28-30.

The camp will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day.

The cost is $50 per player, and registration will be held starting at 8 a.m. on the first day of camp, June 28.

Each player will receive a camp T-shirt.

Players must bring a face mask and a personal water bottle.
