AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Peninsula Golf Club adds days, hours for public

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Golf Club is open to the public seven days a week with no time restrictions and tee times will be available up to 30 days in advance, according to head golf pro Chad Wagner.

“By making tee times more available we are hoping to get more people through the door and share this amazing course and some of the best views on the Olympic Peninsula,” Wagner said.

The course was previously closed to the public on Thursdays and open for public play after 11 a.m. Friday through Tuesday and after noon Wednesdays.

Super Scramble

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Golf Club will hold a Super Scramble Tournament on Sunday, Feb. 4, the day of the Super Bowl between New England and Philadelphia.

The two-person scramble format event will tee off at 10 a.m., well before the start of the game at 3:30 p.m.

The cost is $40 for Peninsula members and $55 for the public.

The fee includes team gross and net merchandise awards, individual KP, a square on the Super Bowl sports board and two drink tickets.

Teams can have a 10-stroke maximum handicap differential.

Handicaps will be assigned at 35 percent of the team total and will use handicaps from the end of 2017.

Super Player tourney

PORT LUDLOW — Port Ludlow Golf Club will hold The Super Player How Low Can You Go tournament Saturday, Feb. 3.

A one-player scramble event, the tournament will have a 10 a.m. shotgun start.

The entry fee is $50 for nonmembers and $30 for Port Ludlow members.

Green fees, lunch, range, KP’s and long drive entries are included in the price. Cart fees are $10 per player.

All players must have a valid USGA handicap.

A prize payout of $1,400 is expected based on a full field of 72 players.
