AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Northwest 1B League football all-stars named

JOYCE — A total of nine Neah Bay and Crescent football players were named last week to the 1B Northwest Football League All-Star team.

Making the first team were Neah Bay quarterback Julian Carrick, defensive end Andre Greene, linebacker Kaeden Butterfield, tight end Neil Bowechop, center Tyler Swan and defensive back Makyah Chambers. Swan is just an eighth-grader, while Chambers is a freshman.

Crescent running backs Wyatt Lee and Brayden Emery made the first team, as did defensive back Connor Baners.

Other players named to the first team include:

Lummi — Duncan Toby, wide receiver; William Elsey, running back/linebacker; Samson Bumatay, tight end/defensive end; Tucker Rawlins, quarterback/linebacker.

Darrington — Landen Brown, defensive end/tight end; Nik Requa, cornerback/quarterback.

Concrete — Adam Culver, running back/linebacker.

Olympic League tennis

SEQUIM — Port Angeles and Sequim got several players on the Olympic 2A all-league team.

Meanwhile, Sequim won the league’s team sportsmanship award.

Making the team were Roughriders Reef Gelder, Edun Bailey, Michael Soule and Damon Gunderson. The Wolves’ Garret Little and Connor Bear also made the team.

Sequim’s Koda Robinson and Port Angeles’ James Burkhardt were given individual sportsmanship awards by the league.

Also making the team were Jason Hart, Andrew Myers, Joshua Smith, Drake Jones, Carl Burchill, Ethan Gillespie, Ryan Williams, Garrett Rhoads of North Kitsap; Jett Peters, Aiden McLennan and Brogan Rice of Bainbridge; Sylas Glazier and Jackson Warner of Bremerton; and Ryan Guedea and Garrett McDaniel of Kingston.

North Kitsap’s Jay DeVries was named coach of the year.
