AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Free tennis camp; Hillclimb returns to Deer Creek Road

PORT ANGELES — There will be a free tennis camp for boys attending Port Angeles High School from July 5-8, hosted by high school head coach Brian Gundersen.

The camp will be held daily from 10 a.m. to noon. It’s for returning players or any high school boy thinking about playing for the Roughriders in the fall.

The camp will take place at the Port Angeles High School tennis courts, and players should bring water and comfortable shoes. Rackets will be provided if kids don’t have their own. Please contact Gundersen with any questions at bgundersen@portangelesschools.org.

Hillclimb returns

PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula Motorcycle Club presents the return of the Hurricane 400-foot Hillclimb Saturday and Sunday up Deer Park Road.

There will be motorcycles from 50cc classes to a nitro-burning unlimited class climbing the hill.

Gates open at 7 a.m. Saturday and Sunday with the first bikes up the hill at 9 a.m.

The ticket is $10 a day with younger than 10 and senior citizens getting in free. Overnight parking is $5 a night. People are encouraged to bring their own outdoor seating.

To find the site, to south on Deer Park Road to Twin Firs Estates Drive. People can follow the signs to the hill climb entrance.
