Mavy all-district

SEQUIM — Former Sequim track and field standout Eve Mavy, now a student-athlete at the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., earned a spot on the 2023-24 NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Academic All-District team, the school announced.

Mavy is majoring in violin performance and wants to teach and perform music after graduation, school officials noted. A competitor for the Bulldogs on the cross country and track squads, Mavy had personal bests in the 4.5K (18 minutes, 14.8 seconds), 5K (19:11.1) and 6K (22:20.4). Her 6K time is the eighth-fastest in Redland’s records books.

Mavy transferred to Sequim High in 2022 and qualified for the state 2A championship meet in two individual (800 and 1,600) and two relay events (4×200, 4×400). She was part of a Sequim High School team (along with Hi’ilei Robinson, Kaitlyn Bloomenrader and Riley Pyeatt) that won the 4×400 state championship, then went on to take first place at the 2022 Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, Ore.
