AREA SPORTS BRIEFS: Area pickleball athletes win medals at senior games

LACEY — Several Olympic Peninsula senior athletes won silver and gold medals in pickleball at the Washington State Senior Games held earlier this month.

Winning gold in the men’s doubles 55-59 age group was the team of Mike Nizic and Mark Dana, while winning men’s doubles in the 75-79 age group was Steve Bennett and Robert Rankin.

In the men’s singles 70-74 age group, Don Church took gold while Phil Milliman won silver. Bennett took silver in the men’s singles 75-plus age group.

Taking silver in the women’s doubles 75-84 age group was the team of Beverly Hoffman and Jeannie Ramsey.

In mixed doubles age 70-74 Mary Critchlow and Church took silver while Hoffman and Bennett took silver in the 75-plus mixed doubles category.
