PORT ANGELES — For people attending the Port Angeles game against Mount Baker on Sept. 5, you quietly witnessed history being made.
The game featured the first all-woman varsity officiating crew. The officials were referee Kaila Olin, umpire Molly Mahan, back judge Shailah Wood, line judge Maggie Wright and head linesperson Rainee Signor.
Mahan also officiates college level basketball, while Olin is a college Division II referee. All of the officials, who work for the North Olympic Football Officials’ Association, had at least two years experience officiating.
