AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Wilder Sr. wins two out of three

EPHRATA — Wilder Sr. won two out of three games at the Ephrata Tournament on Sunday and Monday, busting out for an eight-run inning in a 10-6 win over the River Dogs on Monday.

Wilder also won 4-2 over the Northwest Bandits and lost 7-2 to the Outlaws on Sunday.

Wilder trailed the River Dogs 4-2 late when the team erupted for eight runs in the sixth. Interestingly, while the team had 12 hits, no player had more than one hit.

Tanner Pirce hit a double, while Michael Grubb had a hit, a run and an RBI. Jacob Felton had a hit, a run, two RBIs and three stolen bases. Seth Woods had a hit, a run and an RBI while Dalton Kilmer had a hit, two runs scored and an RBI. On the mound, Trey Baysinger pitched two scoreless innings, giving up just one hit, while Grubb pitched a scoreless inning in the sixth to collect a save.

On Sunday, Wilder Sr. got an outstanding pitching performance from Adam Watkins in beating the Bandits. Watkins went the full seven innings, gave up six hits and two earned runs while walking none and striking out seven.

Kamron Meadows went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Felton went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Landon Seibel and Dru Clark also had RBIs, while Wyatt Hall and Baysinger had hits.

Wilder has gone 3-2 in five games at the tournament; the team is 5-2 overall.

In the Outlaws loss, Meadows again had a double and a run scored, while Ty Bradow went 3-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. Watkins had Wilder’s other hit. Logan Urvina started the game and took the loss. The Outlaws got up 7-1 after three innings, but Wilder held them scoreless over the final three innings. Kilmer pitched the final 1⅔ innings, giving up just one hit, no walks and no runs.

Wilder wrapped up tournament play Monday and next plays an intrasquad game at Civic Field at 9 a.m. Saturday. They play the Kitsap Rebels at 2 p.m. Sunday at Civic Field.
