AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: Wilder Senior splits a pair at Ephrata Tournament

EPHRATA — Wilder Senior was on both ends of big innings late Saturday, splitting a pair of games at the Ephrata Tournament, beating the River Dogs 4-2 and losing to the Chaffey Baseball Club 7-6.

Wilder came within an inning of going 4-0 on the season, giving up three runs in the seventh inning to Chaffey, an elite baseball development program in the Seattle area. Wilder went into the seventh inning up 6-4.

Against Chaffey, Adam Watkins went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Dalton Kilmer had a double, a run scored and an RBI. Michael Grubb had a hit, two runs scored an RBI and a walk.

Landon Seibel pitched 5 1/3 strong innings, giving up just four hits and three earned runs. He struck out five and walked two.

Earlier in the day against the River Dogs, Jacob Felton hit a solo home run, while Grubb went 2-for-3 on the day with a run scored. Ty Bradow had a double and an RBI, while Connor Bear had a hit and an RBI.

The duo of John Vaara and Seth Woods gave up just four hits on the day. Vaara went four innings, giving up two hits and no earned runs while striking out four. Woods went three innings, giving up two hits, one walk and an earned run to pick up the victory.

Against the River Dogs, it was Wilder’s turn to rally as the Olympic Peninsula team rallied with three runs in the sixth to pull this game out.

Wilder played these games without several Forks players, who were playing a high school basketball game for the Spartans. Wilder played games at the tournament Sunday and will wrap up its Ephrata games today.
