BREMERTON — Sequim and Port Angeles placed a total of five players in six positions on the All-Olympic first team this season.
Port Angeles’ Hunter Flores had the distinction of making first team both as an offensive lineman and defensive lineman, one of only three players in the entire league to do that. Also making first team was Port Angeles’ Dylan Mann as a linebacker.
Sequim put three players on the first team. Brayden White not only made the first team as an offensive lineman, he made the second team as a defensive lineman.
Also making the first team were Sequim’s Zeke Schmadeke as a defensive back and James Mason as a kick and punt returner. Though Schmadeke had some huge games on offense as a quarterback, the competition at that position was stiff in the league as Bainbridge’s Jack Grant made the first team and Olympic’s Antonio Castorena made the second team.
Sequim, which finished fourth in the Olympic League and qualified for postseason with a 5-5 record, had seven other players on the second team. They include Nemo Guzman, offensive line; Liam Wiker, running back; Patrick Elias, tight end; Aron Golbeck and Jericho Julmist, linebacker; and Simon Skribner, defensive back.
Port Angeles had four other players on the second team. They include Jordan Shumway, defensive line; River Flores, linebacker; Kaiden Point, defensive back; and Oliver Martinez, punter.
The Olympic League MVP is an offensive lineman, a rarity. Nate Thornton of North Kitsap, who has committed to play for Montana State, was named the league MVP, while Chace Webster of Olympic was the offensive MVP and Garrett Goade of Bainbridge the defensive MVP.
Winning league sportsmanship awards were Aiden Otis of Port Angeles and Paul Burrows of Sequim.
