PORT ANGELES — Nearly 240 runners from Washington and states beyond ran through the woods and the hills west of Port Angeles this weekend in the annual Great Olympic Adventure Trail run.

The GOAT run, put on by Peninsula Adventure Sports, was a 50K race Saturday that began at Lake Crescent, climbed into the mountains as high as 1,620 feet (with 3,800 feet of total climbing over several mountain ridges) then ended east of Snug Harbor.
