I was speaking to a really good friend of mine the other day (let’s call her Rebecca) and was surprised when she opened up to me about an issue that’s been plaguing her for a while now. She expressed how her acne and breakouts were making her feel really down, and I have to say I’d never realised because I’d never really noticed it.
Here’s what Rebecca had to say about her experience with acne:
“I’ve been experiencing issues with my skin (in particular adult acne) consistently now for the past eight months despite having a very healthy diet and active lifestyle. I also drink approximately 2-3L of water daily and am very diligent with my skincare – e.g. always removing my make up before going to bed etc. Having enjoyed clear skin my entire life barring the occasional zit here and there, my newfound problem skin has caused a huge nosedive in my self-confidence. So much so, there have often been days that I’ve been so depressed I don’t even want to leave the house. It seems like no matter what I do, my breakouts just won’t disappear and I’m questioning the chance I’ll ever have clear skin again.”
As you can see, sometimes a healthy diet and diligent skin care regime aren’t enough to ward off stubborn acne. Rebecca explained that she’d tried every kind of different acne-clearing skin care range, and I concluded that perhaps the problem was that she never sticks to a particular acne treatment for a full eight weeks – which is the optimum time needed for products like this to show results. She had been switching up her skin care products every two to three weeks when she didn’t see the results she was after.
Instantly my mind went straight to the acne experts, Danné Montague-King. She was thrilled with the suggestion, and after a consultation with a skin therapist, is now undergoing an eight-week treatment program that is specially tailored to Rebecca’s skin.
The best part? We’re going along for the ride. Yep, for the next eight weeks we’ll be following Rebecca’s journey, bringing you real photos (just like the ones above) and sharing her progress with you. So hold on tight, because with any luck it won’t be a ‘bumpy’ ride for much longer…
Fast-forward to the three-week update and see Rebecca’s progress!
