Australian makeup artist, Rae Morris, has a wealth of beauty expertise under her belt, but even she admits she can be late to the party on some trends and hacks.
Case in point? Rae recently shared a TikTok video where she gushed about the benefits of wearing Sudocrem ($6.50 from Woolworths) as a face mask, a trick she learned from none other than Allies Of Skin founder Nicolas Travis who told her to apply the nappy rash cream after her PM skin care routine.
“Am I late to the party on this?,” she questioned in the clip. “I did this last night and I took it off and my skin just was ridiculous. Now it’s daytime and I’m reapplying it.”
“I don’t know how often you can do this? I should probably check,” she joked.
“I’m going to show you my skin after, and I’m really pale, I get red, I get bumpy, I get Milia,” she teased.

After she’d showered and washed the nappy cream off of her face Rae shared the results of her masking session with her TikTok followers.
“I have no foundation [on]. Look how smooth my skin is,” she said excitedly. “I’m quite sensitive. I think I’ve over-peeled my skin during my life[time], but I’m really impressed.”
“The bumpiness has literally gone. I’ve done this for two nights in a row: I do my normal skin care, throw it on, and just go to bed,” she shared.
The makeup artist said she’s also been enjoying seeing everyone’s questions about the hack in her comments section.
“‘Does it get on your pillowcase?’ Yes.”
“‘Is it hard to get off?’ Little bit.”
“And some people say it’s really drying, but I think it’s because you’ve got to put all your creams on underneath and put [the Sudocrem ($6.50 from Woolworths)] on top,” she advised.

The active ingredient in Sudocrem ($6.50 from Woolworths) is zinc, which is said to reduce the skin’s inflammatory response and congestion.
According to Rae, if you’re after a product that shares a similar concentration of zinc as Sudocrem ($6.50 from Woolworths), but a cleaner formula, Weleda’s Calendula Nappy Change Cream ($17.99 from Priceline) is a welcome substitute, while Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream ($28.39 from Chemist Warehouse) is a great alternative for sensitive, irritated or extremely dry skin.

No one can complain about $6.50.
No I agree Normap .
I have heard of this before and certainly easy to try.
That’s interesting, never heard of this hack before
I heard about this before, but not exactly keen to try.
I would not use it, have beautiful night mask that makes my skin so great in the morning.
I don’t feel inclined to try this.
I’ve heard of it before but never tried it. Maybe now is the time.
sure is inexpensive
No way!
I have been using sudocreme as an under eye cream at night for ages. It is AMAZING! Lightens, brightens and tightens. It will get on your pillow case if you sleep on your side so be warned, but some in wash booster will help get it out. I love this stuff. Not just for babies butts!
Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream is one of my go-tos! Never without this stuff. Has calmed my skin on so many irritated occasions. Crazy how fast it works as well. One day I woke up with blotchy irritated skin from a new product, I slathered it in the morning and by midday, my skin was back to normal.
It would never have occurred to me to use nappy rash cream like that!
Me neither, doesn’t sound great I must admit.
Thank you for sharing. Great hack to try.
I’ve done slugging which is similar to this. Might have to try this out one day
Does it clog your pores? I am guessing you need to double cleanse to get it off.
Does it really work? Im so keen to try this out
