Mother dearest

Mother dearest

I’ve got a confession to make. It’s so horrible to admit that I’m just going to go right ahead and get it over with: I don’t like Mother’s Day. Now I’ll give you a couple of seconds to get over this blasphemy of catastrophic proportions and then I’ll begin to explain myself.

It’s not that I don’t love my mum. I do. Very much in fact. It’s not that I don’t think she deserves the best. She does. Or that I don’t want to buy her a present. I do. It’s just that, like my loathing of St. Valentine, I hate the whole commercial aspect that decides on this one day, we should show some appreciation to the women who raised us. Umm, there are 364 other days that this should apply too. Don’t even get me started on the enforced ‘Mother’s Day’ pricing of three-course lunches. It gets right on my nerves, can you tell?

But then a friend – a rather brighter friend than me, I might add – pointed out that Mother’s Day isn’t just going to go away (and besides, it’s still one of 365 days that mums should be appreciated) so why not use it as an excellent time to soak up all the amazing beauty GWPs that raise their heads come holiday season. Well, why not?

Why not indeed when greeted with especially fabulous deals like “with every set of C}4u shampoo and conditioner purchased during May, you’ll receive a complimentary C}4u Masque Treatment and C}4u vanilla scented candle.” Hellooo, do you know how good this range is? Up until recently, my sister – who has been living in Australia for nearly three years – was still shipping her favourite UK haircare products out here. Nothing would change her mind – which is a pretty huge call considering you get to try a lot of new products when your sister’s a beauty editor. That is, until I bought home the C}4u Curl Cure Shampoo and Masque Treatment. They changed her life. Her words, not mine.

And you’re giving it to me for free when I purchase the same (divine) shampoo and conditioner that I normally would? Mother’s Day suddenly got a whole lot better.

C}4u is a boutique, prescriptive, salon-exclusive range that combines world-class technology with pure creativity for the more discerning client.

What will you be getting your mum this Mother’s Day? Or if you’re a mum, what are you hoping for?
