We’re laughing (and learning)
We love Jennifer Lawrence for her relatability. And her work, of course. But honestly, also for her skin. And her hair. And her makeup.
She’s been turning out stellar beauty moments for over a decade, and whilst she seems to prefer to talk about Kris Jenner and pizza than beauty tips (she’s real for that), there are a few gems of beauty advice she’s blessed us with that we’ll never forget.
Here are all of Jennifer Lawrence’s finest (and funniest) beauty tips…
#1: Exfoliate with “anything grainy”
She’s not strict about which exfoliants she’ll apply (or how often she’ll apply them). “I exfoliate every night, and it really doesn’t matter what I use,” Jennifer told Harper’s BAZAAR regarding her skin-smoothing routine.
“You can kind of use anything grainy, so I change it up,” she added. Um, sure, whatever works! She’s right that things like brown sugar can moonlight as DIY exfoliants, but we’d always advise picking up a formula suited to your skin type’s exfoliation needs.
Whilst Jennifer didn’t single out any favourites (as she apparently doesn’t have any), we rate the Clinique 7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula ($60 at Myer). Or if you prefer a non-grainy liquid exfoliant, try the Natio Glow – Multi-Action Exfoliating Concentrate ($26.95 at Myer).

#2: Choose steps that work for your face
“I think it’s important to change up facial products, but I do use retinol under my night cream every night. It says not to use it every night, but I always say f*ck it,” she shared with Harper’s BAZAAR.
Look, we’d always recommend sticking to the instructions on the back of the bottle/tub, but it’s important to listen to your own face, too. Jennifer also sets her own schedule for when to apply night cream: “I have really dry skin, so I wear night cream even during the day,” she once shared.
Luckily there are formulas like the AHC Colla-Juvenation Lift 4 – Overday + Night Treatment Balm ($59.99 at Priceline) that have all the rich goodness of a night cream, but are designed to be worn during the day as well. We hope Jennifer knows about this formula, it sounds like it’d be right up her alley!

#3: The choppier the haircut, the better
Something Jennifer is specific about is her preference for a blowout over her natural texture. “I’m so bad with hair! I have naturally curly hair, so of course I hate when it’s curly. I prefer to blow it out straight,” she admitted.
Don’t think that means she prefers ‘perfect’ hair, though. She’s actually quite partial to a ‘messy’ cut. “[Celebrity hair stylist] Riawna Capri did my current cut. I like it to look choppy and uneven,” she noted.
#4: Apply concealer before showering
Jennifer’s morning routine? Makeup then a shower. Well, in a way. Here’s her routine rundown: “Coffee. Then I brush my teeth. Sunblock. Then put on concealer. Take my dog [Pippi] to the park. Shower.” Okay, sure, it’s relatable to need a little concealer for your pre-shower activity, as long as a good cleanse is involved in said shower.
If you ask us, the Simple Kind To Skin Refreshing Facial Wash ($3.99 at Priceline) is the formula for the job.

#5: Exercise (and let everyone know you do)
Now, Jennifer’s the first to admit she isn’t always knocking a healthy diet out of the park, but she exercises, she swears! “I really wish I was better about health. I eat like an 11-year- old orphan. But I exercise! I do Pilates and I run.” Well, that’s a win! And another relatable confession…

Do you have any unique beauty tips? Do you relate to any of Jennifer’s advice?
I dont know this lovely lady.
Great American actress
Sounds hap hazard but she looks amazing so it works for her.
I would love to see her naturally curly hair.
yes that would be good.
Me too.
I don’t understand the part about using concealer in the shower?
I’m not sure about #4…
Bit of a waste of product ?
I think when you get to a certain age you shouldn’t use a grainy exfoliant.
Stick with whatever suits you and your skin best.
I wouldn’t use grainy exfoliators daily, once or twice is more than enough
She sounds a bit like me.
Mixing it up all the time.
Yes I think there’s a lot to be said for running and working up a sweat, it really helps get the toxins out of the body via sweat.
Love J-Law! Not sure I’ll be following her advice though…although I do agree on choppy haircuts being better!
Sounds confused.
Yes it does but with her looks who cares !
She always looks fab
I am waiting for the series she is in with Kevin Costner…I like her as an actress.
I don’t exfoliate every night like she does. I do it about twice a week on my face if that.
Just read a fabulous article with her in the New York Times. She says she regrets “everything she’s ever said or done”!
oh no surely that does not make for a happy person?
Haha, love her.
I think she is naturally beautiful and has good genetics.
#4 is a bit weird
I was blasé in youth, too.
I have never seen her with curly hair. I think its suit for her.
I ran out of cleanser on holiday and brought simple cleaners to do me for a few days mmmeeh was ok but used extra moisturiser
Chaotic, and I wouldn’t expect anything less lol
She always comes across as so down to earth
