PORT ANGELES — Hurricane Ridge Road was closed for nearly three hours following a head-on collision that resulted in a DUI arrest, Olympic National Park officials said.
Park spokeswoman Penny Wagner said a man was arrested on Sunday for investigation of driving under the influence after the wreck near milepost 8.
Wagner did not have the names of the drivers involved but said there were no major injuries.
The wreck occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday “just below the tunnels,” Wagner said.
“No one was taken to the hospital,” Wagner said in a Monday interview.
“It sounds like (there was) just a minor injury from the decline of transport of the male who was arrested for DUI.
“We had to close the road to clear the scene,” she added.
Hurricane Ridge Road had reopened by 6:24 p.m., Olympic National Park officials said in a tweet.
The parking lot at Hurricane Ridge was approaching capacity before the wreck but wait times at the Heart O’ the Hills entrance station were short, park officials said.
