SEQUIM — A woman arrested following a weekend fire that destroyed a motel room will return to Clallam County Superior Court today to face possible arson charges.
Sheree L. Clemons, 26, is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail for investigation of first-degree arson domestic violence.
She is scheduled to return to court at 1 p.m. for prosecutors to file formal charges.
Clemons was brought into her initial court appearance Monday in a restraining chair, and a jail officer said she had been unresponsive since her incarceration, court records show.
Judge George Wood signed an order of no contact between Clemons and her husband and two boys, ages 8 and 2.
Sequim police arrested Clemons on Sunday morning after she and her family escaped unharmed from a room at the Sequim West Inn that caught fire during the night.
Tenants evacuated
Officers were called to the scene, on West Washington Street, at about midnight and evacuated other tenants while firefighters extinguished the blaze that had engulfed Room 211.
According to court records, Clemons’ husband told police that his wife had been having mental problems recently. He said he woke up to find the foot of the bed on fire.
