A six-year property tax levy was being narrowly defeated in the Quillayute Parks and Recreation District.
The close measure had 51.3 percent of voters (352 votes) rejecting it in initial returns Tuesday night while 48.7 percent (334 votes) supported it.
Four parks and recreation candidates ran unopposed for seats in Clallam County. They included:
Frank Pickering, who had 98.1 percent (4,483 votes) for Position 2 on the District 1 board.
Donald Grafstrom, who had 97.5 percent (457 votes) for Position 1 in the Quillayute district.
Susie Brandelius, who had 98.8 percent (492 votes) for Position 2 in the Quillayute district.
Tyler Maxfield, who had 99 percent (469 votes) for Position 4 in the Quillayute district.
In Jefferson County, the Coyle-Thorndyke Park and Recreation District replacement operations and maintenance levy was passing by a margin of 78.4 percent (138 votes) to 21.6 percent (38 votes).
Two commissioners in the same district are running unopposed. They were Dennis Schmitt for Position 2 (98.7 percent, 149 votes) and Thane Grooms for Position 3 (98.7 percent, 155 votes).
