Vehicle fire extinguished west of Port Angeles

Driver, dog unharmed

PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Fire District No. 2 crews extinguished a vehicle fire near Dry Creek Elementary School west of Port Angeles on Monday.

District Chief Jake Patterson said the driver of the 1993 Dodge Dakota and a dog were uninjured. There were no other occupants in the pickup.

Patterson said the cause of the fire was unknown.

The driver was evaluated by medics on scene.

Crews extinguished the fire on Rife Road across the street from the elementary school, Patterson said. The fire was reported at about 2:40 p.m.

Clallam County Fire District No. 2 responded with two engines and 11 personnel, Patterson said.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office remained with the driver as he waited for a ride, Patterson said.
