United Way to celebrate on Thursday

PORT ANGELES — United Way of Clallam County board members and staff will thank donors for contributing more than $796,000 at its annual campaign celebration Thursday.

The celebration will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at H2O Waterfront Bistro, 222 N. Lincoln St.

“This year’s event is sponsored by Green Crow, Olympic Veterinary Clinic, Strait View Credit Union and Jennifer Ciarlo, Edward Jones,” said Christy Smith, CEO of United Way of Clallam County.

“At the annual celebration, we will be highlighting the success of the campaign, honoring lifetime achievement and giving special recognition to our donors.”

The goal for the 2016 fundraising campaign, which ended March 31, was $800,000.

Money raised will be disbursed to partner organizations in the county and to other nonprofits designated by donors.

Sara Dutrow, the 2016 campaign chair and CEO of Olympic Veterinary Clinic, was pleased with the results of this year’s fundraising efforts.

“The last time a campaign raised more funds was 2012,” she said. “Because of the generosity of our community, we are able to provide more support to our partners.

“We had so much fun during this year’s campaign; working with community members and businesses to collect funds and spread the word about the work of our local nonprofits,” Dutrow said.

For more than 50 years the United Way of Clallam County has worked with local nonprofits whose work focuses on education, financial stability and health.
