Drivers can expects delays at both ends of the North Olympic Peninsula this month.
Today and Thursday, drivers can expect up to 20-minute daytime delays on state Highway 104 and nearby state Highway 19 while state Department of Transportation maintenance crews remove and replace damaged asphalt on Highway 104 from milepost 8 to milepost 10.
From 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, drivers might encounter one-way alternating traffic with a pilot car on Highway 104.
Forks area
Delays also are expected near Forks as crews begin a project to chip seal portions of U.S. Highway 101 near Forks and Kalaloch.
From mileposts 189.3 to 176.7 near Forks and mileposts 156 to 159.4 near Kalaloch, speed limits will be reduced to 35 mph during chip seal operations.
The work will require single-lane closures between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays from June through August.
Pilot cars will guide traffic through the work zones.
The chip seal process resurfaces the highway by compressing crushed rock into liquid asphalt.
Transportation encourages drivers to plan ahead for travel delays during the lane reductions and backups.
