Three-vehicle collision leaves one in custody, another injured

SEQUIM — A Sequim woman has been arrested after a three-vehicle wreck that put a Port Angeles woman in the hospital.

The State Patrol said Rachel Knapp, 42, drove against traffic on U.S. Highway 101 near Kitchen-Dick Road on Tuesday and caused the wreck.

She was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault and driving under the influence of alcohol, and was booked into the Clallam County jail, where she is being held on $100,000 bond.

The State Patrol said Knapp, who was driving a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder southbound on Kitchen-Dick Road shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday night, entered the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 101 and struck Robbin Mcadow, 19, of Port Angeles in his 1993 Ford Ranger in the westbound lane. Mcadow’s vehicle rotated and hit Leslie Miller, 63, of Port Angeles, driving a 2007 Hyundai.

Mcadow was transported to Olympic Medical Center and remained in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.

Knapp was injured but treated on the scene.

All three cars were impounded and the roadway was blocked for about 6½ hours, the State Patrol said.
