SEQUIM — Three people were injured following a two-car collision on U.S. Highway 101 at Palo Alto Road.
Yvonne Newton, 75, of Sequim was northbound on Palo Alto Road, waiting to turn onto westbound Highway 101 in a 2017 Subaru Outback when she turned into the intersection about 2:17 p.m. Tuesday and struck another vehicle, the State Patrol said.
Both vehicles came to rest fully blocking the westbound lane and partially blocking the eastbound lane of Highway 101, the State Patrol said.
Newton was transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles. Paul Swisher, 46, of Sequim, the driver of a 2018 Audi Q5, and Tamera Anderson, 47, of Sequim, a passenger in the Audi, both were injured and transported to OMC, the State Patrol said.
The agency cited Newton for failure to yield the right of way.
All three people were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the agency added.
Both vehicles were totally destroyed, according to the State Patrol.
