City Council positions were contested Tuesday in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks and Port Townsend.
In Port Angeles, challenger James Taylor was leading incumbent LaTrisha Suggs by a small margin for the Position 1 seat in initial returns. Taylor garnered 50.3 percent (1,313 votes) while Suggs had 49.5 percent (1,292 votes).
For Position 2, incumbent Drew Schwab led challenger Tyler Slater 69.9 percent (1,745 votes) to 29.9 percent (745 votes).
Incumbent Kate Dexter, who currently serves as the council-appointed mayor, was leading challenger Marolee “Mimi” Smith Dvorak 61.7 percent (1,587 votes) to 37.9 percent (973 votes) for Position 4.
Mark Hodgson, who is running unopposed, had 97 percent (1,791 votes) for Position 3.
In Sequim, five positions on the ballot had unopposed candidates.
Kelly Burger had 99.7 percent (1,219 votes) for Position 1, while A. Pete Tjemsland had 99.7 percent (1,248 votes) for Position 3, Rachel Anderson had 99.1 percent (1,216 votes) for Position 4, Brandon Janisse had 98.9 percent (1,214 votes) for Position 5 and Nicole Hartman had 99.4 percent (1,213 votes) for Position 7.
In Forks, Corey Pearson led Armistead Lucas Coleman II for Position 5 60.6 percent (172 votes) to 37.3 percent (106 votes).
Four others were running unopposed for their seats including Mayor Tim Fletcher (94.6 percent, 226 votes), Vilkesh Patel for Position 1 (98.3 percent, 224 votes), Kaylan Kimball for Position 2 (96.4 percent, 211 votes) and Joe Soha for Position 3 (95.4 percent, 207 votes).
In Jefferson County, Fred Obee led Dylan Quarles for the only contested Port Townsend City Council seat. Obee had 72.9 percent (2,224 votes) and Quarles had 27 percent (822 votes) for Position 1.
Neil Nelson, who is running unopposed for Position 2, had 97 percent (1,972 votes), and Libby Wennstrom, who is running unopposed for Position 5, had 94.8 percent (1,979 votes).
