PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles City Council candidate James Taylor’s lead over incumbent LaTrisha Suggs remained slim Wednesday as the ballot counts were updated from the general election.
Taylor, who led by 21 votes after the initial count, gained three more votes on Wednesday. He had 1,408 votes (50.4 percent) to Suggs’ 1,384 votes (49.5 percent).
The next count, which was set for 5 p.m. Thursday, was after press time.
Clallam County reported a 26.2 percent voter turnout with 15,570 ballots counted out of 59,529 registered votes. There were an estimated 10,000 ballots left to count after Wednesday’s update.
Meanwhile, Jefferson County reported a 31.1 percent voter turnout with 8,975 ballots counted out of 28,875 registered voters. There were an estimated 2,845 ballots left to count after initial returns. The next ballot count was scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday.
The election will be certified on Nov. 25.
Two other close races in Clallam County remained unchanged after Wednesday’s update.

Hammar had just a 60-vote lead following initial returns.
